The blade is the foundation of your paddle. It determines how much speed, control, and feel you have at the table, long before the rubber comes into play. A good blade suits your playing style, not the other way around.

What matters when choosing a blade

Three characteristics determine whether a blade is right for you: playing strategy, speed, and material.

  • Playing Strategy:Offensive blades (OFF, OFF+) provide speed and pressure for attack. All-round blades (ALL, ALL+) remain controllable and are more forgiving. Defensive blades (DEF) are slower and designed for safety.
  • Speed and Control:Faster blades reward a clean, powerful stroke and punish imprecise timing. Slower blades give you more time and security.
  • Material:Pure wood plies play softer and with more control. Carbon layers (ALC, ZLC) bring more speed and a larger sweet spot, ideal for offensive players.

The Right Grip Shape

Most players opt for concave (FL) because the grip sits well in the hand. Straight (ST) offers more freedom when changing grip, anatomical (AN) fills the hand more completely. Try out what feels natural to you.
